Was going to start off small with one of those "cheap" dehydrators, but decided to get this one instead. Reason being, that the Excalibur blows the air from the back of the unit going across the trays. While others just blow from the top. Number ONE problem I kept reading over and over again from comsumers is that those types of dehydrators dry the outside but the inside of whatever they were dehydrating wasn't completely dried. When it came to reading up on The Excalibur I looked at it as a investment. I rather pay a little extra for a better product, knowing that with the size of this one I only need buy one for now.
